Annie Warbucks .... the Future

You will see from the Future Shows page that we are now going to present a musical called Annie Warbucks next May .... !
The change from the planned The Full Monty to Annie Warbucks came about because The Churchill have given us the May Half Term Week to perform in, and we really had to find a show that would draw in the kids. I have been researching Annie Warbucks for sometime, and it seemed the perfect choice to follow Annie!
Annie Warbucks is the musical sequel to the Broadway hit Annie. Written by Thomas Meehan with music by Charles Strouse and lyrics by Martin Charnin, It originally played off-broadway but never made it to London.

Annie Warbucks delivers all of the fun that made the original an instant classic. The action picks up right where Annie leaves off. A child welfare commissioner, Mrs Doyle (The new Baddie!) arrives on the scene to inform Daddy Warbucks he must marry in sixty days so the newly adopted Annie can have a proper mother. If he doesn’t marry, then he can’t adopt!
When the legality of this pronouncement is confirmed by his lawyer, Daddy Warbucks responds by speed dating every woman he can find except Annie's choice, his assistant Grace Farrell. His wealth, which is in stark contrast to the plight of most depression-era Americans, makes him quite a catch. The prospect of sharing his affection with any of the prospects drives Annie and Sandy to take advise from her orphanage friends and then hop a train for parts unknown. After a little adventure and some good advice, she is ultimately returned safely to Daddy Warbucks, who has once again called on his friend President Roosevelt for help in his search for Annie! And …. Yes there is a happy ending ….. Again!

Yes, it has the orphans in it! (kids sell tickets)
Yes, there's loads of new chorus numbers & lots of parts
Yes, The dog returns!
Yes, Daddy Warbucks gets the girl (Grace) in the end....
AND...... NO Annie doesn't sing TOMORROW AGAIN!

It has never been presented in London, so it will be another London Premiere ...

If you want to hear the music, contact me after the hols and I will lend you the CD of the off-Broadway production (An ebay treasure!)
